How we work

A clear process, built around you.

Six stages, in plain English. Every client gets a full cashflow model as part of their plan, and we're on hand for whatever comes next — annual reviews, life events, changes in legislation.

i.A first conversationA free, 20-minute introductory call. We're looking to see whether we're the right fit for each other — what you need, where you are, and how we work.
ii.Understanding youIf it makes sense to continue, we send you a secure online fact-find to complete in your own time. Then we meet again — online or in person — to really understand your circumstances, what matters to you, and what you want from your money in the short, medium and long term.
iii.Reviewing your positionWe assess what you've already got — pensions, investments, protection, tax wrappers — and request up-to-date information from your existing providers where it helps. A full cashflow model is built at this stage, so we can project things forward and stress-test the assumptions.
iv.Presenting our recommendationsWe always present our recommendations back to you in person, so we can walk through every part of the plan together and you can ask whatever you need to. A written suitability report sets out every recommendation, every assumption, every fee. You decide whether to proceed.
v.Putting it into actionOnce you're happy, we handle the administration — transfers, applications, switches — onto a single, modern platform, keeping you updated as things progress. Once everything is in place, we check back in to make sure you're satisfied with how it's gone.
vi.Reviews and beyondA formal review every year — progress against goals, tax allowances, withdrawal rates, changes in your circumstances — and we're on hand whenever life shifts, markets move sharply, or legislation changes. This isn't a one-off exercise. It's about making sure the plan stays suitable, year after year.
Cashflow modelling

An evolving plan, not a one-off forecast.

It's how we test whether a plan actually works — not just whether it sounds right. We model different scenarios, change the variables, and talk through what each path would mean for you — then revisit and refine it as life changes.

How the model earns its keep
Build it“What do we actually have, all in one place?”Every pension, ISA, GIA, bond and cash account, held together rather than in isolation — plus your spending: essential, lifestyle and discretionary, one-offs and gifts. Mapped to a realistic horizon based on ONS life expectancy for your circumstances, not a flat assumption.
Change the variables“Could we stop at 58? Help the children with a house?”Retire earlier, spend more, gift to family — each modelled. Then stress-tested for the rough years: low-return decades, market shocks, long-term care, the loss of a spouse.
Talk it through“Which of these do we actually want?”We walk through what each path would mean for you, together — so the decision is yours, made with the picture in front of you.
Revisit & refine“Does it still hold, now that things have changed?”Not set in stone. Re-run at every review and whenever life moves, so the model evolves with you, year after year.
Investments

Outcome-led, not product-led.

Your portfolio isn't the plan — it's a means to the plan. We start from what you need the money to do, when, for how long, and with what tolerance for downside. The investment recommendation follows from that, never the other way round.

  • Built around your objectives. What we recommend follows from your plan and your cashflow model.
  • Researched independently. Whole-of-market, re-checked annually, switched whenever a better outcome for clients is demonstrable.
  • Modern platform. Comprehensive wrappers (ISA, SIPP, GIA, bonds), held in your name with an FCA-regulated custodian.
  • Cost transparency. Platform, advice and investment charges disclosed in pounds and pence — every year.
Important.

The value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up, and you may not get back the amount you originally invested.

On retirement
"The question underneath 'when can I retire?' is 'am I still doing this because I have to, or because I want to?' — and those are very different plans."
Edmund Bailey · Chartered Financial Planner
Independent, by design

Independent means the advice starts with you, not a product.

We're not tied to any provider, platform or fund house. Every recommendation is researched against the whole market with established, independent tooling — and re-checked every year, so what was right when we started stays right.

  • Whole of marketPensions, platforms, funds, protection and annuities — compared across every provider we can access, not a shortlist we're paid to favour.
  • Every cost in writing, up frontPlatform, investment and advice charges in pounds and pence before you commit — and where a product pays us anything, we tell you exactly what, in writing, first.
  • Free to moveIf something demonstrably better for you appears, we can switch. No house view to defend, no provider to keep happy.
  • Judgment, not just toolingCashflow modelling, platform analysis, investment research and risk profiling inform the advice. The decision about what suits you is made by a person who knows you.
